Call to resist fundamentalism to build non-communal B'desh

Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Col (retd) Shawkat Ali Saturday said the main responsibility of all is to establish a non-communal state to protect the hard-earned independence and sovereignty being imbued with the spirit of the War of Liberation, reports BSS.
"I urge all sections of the people to resist the rise of fundamentalism with an iron hand to achieve this goal," he said this while addressing as the chief guest a roundtable at Jatiya Press Club here.
Weekly Asey Din Jai arranged the roundtable on "Our Steps to Protect Independence and Sovereignty."
The deputy speaker sought active cooperation of all towards stopping the activities of those organisations which have long been spreading venom of fundamentalism and communalism in the society.
He also laid emphasis on strengthening the internal security system and ensuring speedy trial of the war criminals to widen the road to further progress and prosperity in near future.
Eminent lawyer Barrister Amir-ul-Islam, renowned economists Professor Muzaffer Ahmad and Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmed, Maj Gen (retd) Subid Ali Bhuiyan MP and Air Marshal (retd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed, among others, took part in the discussion.
Special correspondent of daily Amader Samoy Saiful Islam Talukdar presented the keynote paper.
