JOYPURHAT, Sept 2: The poultry farmers in the district have made an appeal to the government to establish a training centre for boosting the local poultry industry.
Joypurhat district has already gained reputation as a large poultry growing area in the country as millions of chickens and eggs are produced in thousands of poultry farms in the district every year.
As poultry farming has become a profit-making venture, the industry is rapidly growing in the district.
There are 10,000 poultry farms, eight private and one government hatcheries and seven feed mills in the district and about 0.1 million people have been earning their livelihood working in these poultry farms.
But due to lack of a training centre in the district most of the poultry farmers are lacking in knowledge of poultry farming.
In the situation, the local poultry farmers have sought immediate government step in this connection.
