Call to stop farming of BT brinjal

JESSORE, Nov 18: Writer, researcher and environment activist Benzin Khan in a press conference urged the government to stop cultivation of genetically modified BT brinjal for the sake of a healthy nation.
The government has already selected a total of 106 farmers for the cultivation of BT brinjal which is harmful for the environment as well as sound health of the nation.
'November is the targeted month for the cultivation of brinjal,' Benzin Khan said at the press conference held at Prachya Sangha in Jessore town on Monday noon.
About 17 district including Jessore, Kushtia, Comilla, Manikganj, Meherpur and Dinajpur have been selected for cultivation of BT brinjal.
The press conference was attended among others by researchers Abdul Jabbar and Masuduzzaman.
