Cambodia to export 2.0m tons of rice

PHNOM PENH, Nov 14 (Xinhua): Cambodia hopes to export about two million tons of rice in 2007 like in 2006, said Prime Minister Hun Sen here today while addressing the graduation ceremony of a local school.
"When we celebrate the Water Festival from November 23 to 25, don't forget to take care of our rice fields. Otherwise, the harvest can be affected," he said.
Agriculture officials said that Cambodia can remain as a strong exporter of rice this year, but the precondition is that we do enough irrigation work to fend off drought, he added.
According to official statistics, Cambodia exported about two million tons of rice in 2006.
