Cambridge honours outstanding learners

University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) and British Council in Dhaka honoured the outstanding academic achievements of secondary school learners in Bangladesh in the November 2009 and June 2010 Cambridge examination sessions with the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, says a press release.
The awards were presented at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards ceremony held at the Radisson Water Garden Hotel on October 30, 2010. Acting British High Commissioner in Bangladesh Mr. Nick Low was present on the occasion as the chief guest and gave away the certificates and prizes among the students. Among others Dr. John Guy, Syndicate Member of Cambridge Assessment, Lan Chambers, Regional Manager for South Asia, CLE, Murray Keeler, Director Examinations, British Council, Bangladesh, Suzy Chowdhury, Schools Development Manager, CIE Bangladesh were present on the occasion.
Over 160 learners received awards for exceptional performance in Cambridge examinations, including 15 learners who achieved the highest marks in the world and 35 learners who attained the highest marks in Bangladesh in a single subject.
Suzy Chowdhury, Schools Development Manager, Bangladesh said: "I am very proud to congratulate learners across the country on their outstanding results in the Cambridge examinations. The results are a reflection of the enormous talent in Bangladesh, not only amongst the learners but also within the teaching profession. A great deal of hard work and dedication from the learners, as well as support from their schools and families are behind these awards. Cambridge qualifications develop Independent learners, and prepare young people for success in their further studies and beyond. These learners have a bright future ahead of them, and I wish them well."
Cambridge Inspirational Teacher Awards were also presented on the occasion.
