Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Heather Cruden on Wednesday said Canada expects a political understanding through a dialogue between the government and the opposition. “The January 5 election was not a competitive one. So, Canada expressed concern soon after the election,” he said while talking to reporters after a meeting with the leaders of Jessore Chamber of Commerce in the morning. He said they have been providing assistance to Bangladesh since 1972 and expressed the hope that it will continue in the future. In the meeting with the business leaders, the Canadian envoy emphasised increasing trade between Bangladesh and Canada. President of Jessore Chamber of Commerce Mizanur Rahman Khan chaired the meeting, according to a news agency.
