Canada offers to invest in civil aviation sector

Canada has shown interest to invest in Bangladesh's civil aviation sector to enhance its capacity, reports UNB.
Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit-Pierre Laramee conveyedthe Canadian interest at a meeting with Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon on Thursday, said a handout.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on development of the civil aviation and tourism sector as well as other issues of mutual interests.
Noting that the existing bilateral ties between the two friendly nations are excellent, Menon said Canada is a true friend of Bangladesh.
Citing various programmes taken for the development of the civil aviation sector, the minister said the current government is going to take initiatives for setting up the country's biggest airport to ensure a civil aviation system of international standard. "And steps have been taken to elevate Cox's Bazar and Syedpur airports to international standards," he said.
The Canadian High Commissioner emphasised introduction of direct flights between Canada and Bangladesh saying that his country is willing to set airway connectivity with Bangladesh.
