Capital sees rain for second day

People in the capital witnessed the second spell of rainfall in Spring season on Monday, which gave them some sort of respite amid the ongoing hot and humid weather.
Shahinul Islam, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), said some parts of the country, including the capital, experienced rainfall on Monday, and are also likely to witness rainfall today (Tuesday).
Apart from the rainfall, nor'wester hit some parts of the country, and may hit some more parts in the coming days along with rain, thunder and hailstorm, he hinted.
Some 9.0 millimeters (mm) of rainfall occurred in Dhaka until 6:00 am on Monday, while a trace amount (very small quantity) of rainfall from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm, the meteorologist added.
A met office bulletin forecasted that rain/thundershower, accompanied by temporary gusty/squally wind, is likely to occur at a few places over Sylhet division and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Chattogram divisions in the next few days.
Besides, a mild heatwave is sweeping over the districts of Rajshahi, Pabna and Chuadanga.
Weather may remain mainly dry with temporary/partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, the bulletin also said.
Trough of westerly low lies over the Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas, and seasonal low lies over the South Bay. Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it stated.
