After winning the semifinal against Thailand 1-0, the proud captain of Bangladesh football team, Mamunul Islam Mamun, expressed his hope to win the Bangabandhu Gold Cup International Football Tournament trophy playing their best game in the final against Malaysia Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS), reports UNB.
"Our team is improving day by day and we'll try our best to play for winning the final," Mamun said at a post-match conference at the BNS Friday.
Mamun also appreciated the role of their present coach D Kruif for their achievement and asked for a long term (5 to 6 years) coach for the development of country's football.
The captain thanked the people of the country and the BFF president Kazi M Salahuddin for giving inspiration.
"We took the field today to win the match and try our best to resist Thailand not to play their usual game," Mamun said adding, "We had been very alert and made fewer mistakes than previous match."
Bangladesh team head coach Lodewik D Kruif expressed satisfaction after the win. "I'm very happy with the result… we played a technical and tactical game in the match… we played a very good game in the first half and in the second half we played tactical game to maintain the lead."
Considering their opponent's strength in the final, Kruif said, "The final match will be a little bit difficult as Malaysia is a very good team. But, they are not better than Thailand."
