Car hijacked, driver shot dead in Rampura

Some miscreants hijacked a car after shooting its driver dead in Rampura area in the city on Monday morning. The victim, Faruk Khan, 28, was reportedly taking the car for delivery from the Mongla Port to a customer in Rampura’s Banasree, police said. But police are yet to find the buyer of the robbed car. Assailants shot the driver, whose name could not be known, near Banasree Jame Masjid around 3:00am and drove off with the vehicle, said Rampura Police Station’s OC Mahbub Alam Tarafdar. Locals heard two gunshots and called the police. ‘He died on spot after being shot twice.’ The victim hailed from Bagerhat district, according to UNB.
