Monday, 13 August 2007
A cargo ship, carrying some 800 sacks of urea fertiliser and 50 sacks of rice, sank in the Meghna in Borhanuddin Upazila under Bhola amid bad weather early Sunday. Sources said the cargo, 'Baba Lichu Shah', anchored near Hakim Uddin Bazaar in Borhanuddin Upazila at about 2am, and sank in the river as it was suddenly caught by a violent storm. In another incident, a fishing trawler capsized with 16 fishermen at Kachchapia in Charfashion Upazila Sunday noon. Coastguards rescued thirteen of the fishermen. —UNB
