Carjacker gang leader, 6 others held

The members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight drive arrested seven suspected members of a carjacker gang, including its ringleader, from different parts of Dhaka city and Sylhet Saturday, reports UNB.
The arrestees were identified as Abdul Alim (28), ringleader of the gang and son of Abdul Barek, Al Amin Islam Rubel (29), son of Muhamamd Jamal Mia, Muhammad Jashim Uddn, son of Abdul Motalib, Muhammad Imam Hossain Shamim alias Shipon (25), son of Muhammad Abdul Shahid, Muhammad Bachchu Mia (31), son of Yeakub Ali, Azam Khan alias Raju (25), son of Abdul Hamid Khan and Shohagh Mia (25), son of Muhammad Abul Bashar.
All of them hail from several parts of Habiganj, Moulvibazar and Kishoreganj districts.
RAB sources said on secret information, a team of RAB-2 conducted a drive at Mirpur road in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area and arrested Abdul Alim along with a stolen motorcycle at around 9:00 pm.
According to his statement, the elite force conducted drive at Agargaon in the city and recovered two more stolen vehicles.
Besides, the elite force raided Bitak intersection in the Tejgaon Industrial area and arrested Azam and Shohag along with one more snatched vehicle at about 4:00 am.
Earlier, RAB-9 members conducted a raid in the Shahi Eidgah area under Kotwali thana in Sylhet and arrested two more suspected carjackers-Rubel and Jashim, and recovered two more stolen vehicles from their possession late at night.
