Case, counter-case filed over BIRDEM incident

A case and counter-case were filed Sunday in connection with the assaults on some physicians of BIRDEM Hospital following the death of a patient on April 13, reports UNB.
The BIRDEM authorities filed a case against 29 people, including Additional Superintendent of Police of Dhaka ABM Masud Hossain, while Farhana Nasrin, victim's daughter, lodged the other case against five doctors of BIRDEM.
Muhammad Manik Mollah, senior security supervisor of the BIRDEM, filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka Sunday against four named people and 25 unnamed ones.
The three other named accused are Ishaq Hossain Babu, assistant personal secretary (APS) to former State Minister for Labour Munnujan Sufian, Farhana Nasrin, patient Sirajul Islam's daughter and a resident of Hosni Dalan road area, and Abir Hossain, a student of East West University.
Farhana filed the other case with the same court against the five BIRDEM physicians at noon. They are Dr Azad, Dr Shamima Akhtar, Dr Firoze Amin, Dr Kalyan Debnath and Dr Anwar Hossain.
Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman recorded the statements of the complainants in both the cases and ordered a judicial enquiry.
The court also ordered for submitting reports before it in the cases within May 28.
