Case filed against 5,000 unnamed Nachol people

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, July 05: Nachol police filed a case against about 5,000 unnamed people accusing them of ransacking and setting on fire the office of UNO on Wednesday demanding supply of fertiliser. But none was arrested till Thursday evening. Meanwhile, administration started distributing fertiliser at wards of all the four unions of Nachol Upazila and also at upazila town. Farmers were given ten kilograms of fertiliser against each bigha of land under Aus cultivation. Farmers of Kasba union however complained that they did not get fertiliser. Dealer Niloy Enterprise informed them to wait till Thursday evening when the supply will be replenished. The presence of farmers in other unions to collect the fertiliser was thin, as they feared arrest because of the case filed by Natore thana officer Fazlur Rahman on Wednesday night. UNO office super estimated the damage at Tk 2.284 million caused by ransack and fire by angry farmers. —UNB
