Tuesday, 4 August 2015

Police in Dhaka have filed a case against BNP’s US unit leader Mohammad Ullah Mamun for ‘plotting the murder’ of prime minister’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy. Mamun’s son Rizvi Ahmed Ceaser was convicted by a US court for bribing an FBI special agent to collect information about a prominent politician in Bangladesh. Detective Police Inspector Fazlur Rahman filed the case with the Paltan police in Dhaka on Monday night. “The case accuses Mamun of plotting the abduction and murder of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son and ICT advisor Sajeeb Wazed Joy,” Paltan police station OC Morshed Alam said. Connecticut-resident Mamun is the vice-president of the BNP’s cultural wing JaSaS and a former vice-president of the party’s US chapter. Joy lives in Virginia with his family. On Mar 4, a New York court sentenced Mamun’s son Ceaser to three and a half years in prison after finding him guilty of bribing FBI agents to gather information on Joy, according to bdnews24.com.
