RAJSHAHI, Feb 24 (bdnews24.com): A case has been filed against several hundred students of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) in connection with their clash with the students of a neighbouring college on Wednesday. Motihar police Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Moklesur Rahman told the news agency Thursday that Agrani School and College Principal Tahura Akhter Khatun filed the case with Motihar police Wednesday night against 400-500 unnamed students. In the statement, the principal alleged that the accused had caused her institution a loss of Tk 5.2 million through vandalism and arson attacks during the clash. No one has so far been arrested, the police ASI said. Meanwhile, the RUET students left their dormitories Thursday morning as instructed by the university authorities. The RUET authorities closed the university for an indefinite period and asked the students to vacate their dormitories by 9am Thursday after the clash between the students of RUET and neighbouring Agrani School and College that left 15 injured. The clash took place following an altercation over ascending the RUET Shaheed Minar platform wearing shoes by several Agrani College students.
