CHITTAGONG, May 9 (UNB): A case was filed in connection with the killing of a security guard of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Ltd at its Muradpur branch in the port city.
Ali Newaz, a senior officer of the bank, filed the case against 3-4 unidentified people with the Panchlaish Police Station on Saturday morning.
Officer-in-charge of Panchlaish Police Station Mohiuddin Mahmood said they were trying to nab the criminals after identifying them by examining the CCTV footage of the bank branch.
Security guard Ibrahim was found dead inside the branch of the bank on the first floor of a six-storey building on Friday.
Police on Friday night said the CCTV footage showed that 3-4 armed robbers wearing masks entered the branch in early hours of Friday by cutting the grill of a window.
The criminals tried to break the vault but failed and they later might have chopped the guard to death with sharp weapons, police said.
The wife of slain Ibrahim called the owner of the building on Friday evening as her husband did not return home till the evening and his mobile phone was switched off.
Later, the owner along with other people went to the bank branch and found Ibrahim's body lying on the floor.
