Case over axing of 100-yr-old wayside trees

Bangladesh Railway has gone to court over the felling of several hundred-year-old wayside trees at Pahartoli in the port city of Chittagong, reports bdnews24.com.
Four people have been accused in the case filed by Deputy Assistant Engineer of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone) Amir Hossain Khan with the Khulshi thana Saturday night.
The railway police said two of them had been caught red-handed.
Tarun Kanti Bala, Divisional Engineer-2 of Bangladesh Railway (East Zone), told the news agency: "The case has been filed against the four on charges of illegally felling and stealing several hundred-year-old trees."
