Case over teacher killing during BNP\\\'s hartal

A case has been filed against fifty people over the killing of a school teacher in Noakhali allegedly by hartal supporters during the BNP-led 20-party alliance’s daylong nationwide shutdown on Monday. Five people have been arrested till Tuesday morning over Shamsunnahar Jhorna’s death in an attack by some young men near a bus stand in Noakhali Sadar Upazila. Police named the BNP’s Noakhali Sadar Upazila unit general secretary and the district unit Juba Dal chief Mahbub Alamgir Alo, and 48 others in the case. School teacher Jhorna, who taught at Tawhid Laboratory School in Dhaka, died after being hit by a brick chip thrown allegedly by picketers. Sudharam police OC Anowar Hossain said Sub-Inspector Masud Alam filed the case on Monday night, according to a news agency.
