\\\'Case proceedings to continue against Khaleda\\\'
Monday, 24 November 2014
The Supreme Court on Monday upheld the High Court orders that had cleared the trial court to carry out proceedings in a graft case, dismissing the two appeals filed by BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia. The full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice M Muzammel Hossain, passed the order in the afternoon. Khaleda Zia filed the leave-to-appeal pleas challenging the two orders of the HC over taking cognisance of the charges and indicting her in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case by the trial court. The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed Zia Orphanage Trust case on July 3, 2008, with Ramna Police Station accusing Khaleda, her eldest son Tarique Rahman and four others of misappropriating over Tk 21 million that came as grants for orphans from a foreign bank, according to a news agency.
