Cash, valuables worth Tk 300,000 looted

Robbers looted gold-made ornaments, cash and other valuable items worth Tk 300,000 from a house at Alaibahar in Sylhet city early Thursday. Locals said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10/12, stormed the house of Shangkar Bhattacharya at the village at about 2:30 am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint. They looted 3.5 tolas of gold ornaments, Tk 100,000 cash, mobile phone sets and other valuables worth Tk 300,000 from the house and decamped with the booty. Akter Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sylhet’s Osmani International Airport Police Station, confirmed the robbery. A case was filed, according to UNB.
