Cash withdrawal limit lifted

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) announced on Saturday that the restriction on cash withdrawals from banks would be lifted starting today (Sunday).
In a directive issued to banks on the day, the central bank stated that the previous cash withdrawal limit of Tk 500,000 per account would no longer apply. In the week before, the limit had been Tk 400,000.
Initially, the BB imposed restrictions on cash withdrawals not exceeding Tk 100,000 per account due to challenges banks faced in
transferring cash between locations.
The central bank had also previously instructed banks to monitor cheque transactions and block any suspicious fund transfers.
