Cautionary signal 3 raised for maritime ports

Sunday, 10 August 2014

The Met Office has advised cautionary Signal No. 3 for the sea ports as a low in the Bay of Bengal could lead to squally weather. In a weather forecast, it said a monsoon low had been formed over the northwest Bay and across the Bangladesh-West Bengal coast. Due to the low’s influence, steep pressure gradient lies over the north Bay, it said, adding that squally weather might affect north Bay, the adjoining coastal area, and the maritime ports of Bangladesh. Authorities have been asked to raise the local cautionary Signal 3 hoisted at the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mangla and Payra until further notice. All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution until further notice, according to bdnews24.com.
