Thursday, 24 March 2011

FE Report
The DSE main index DGEN plummeted 110.93 points Wednesday, as the investors took a cautious stand by selling off their shares. "The market's behaviour is still normal and the investors opted for profit booking which leads to second straight session's fall", said a stock broker. However, the daily turnover was almost same as was Tuesday and stood at Tk 10.64 billion in value terms, which was Tk 10.68 billion in the previous session. At the end of the day, the benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN), the yardstick of the bourse, ended at 6,340.91, shedding 1.71 per cent or 110.93 points. The broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) went down by 87.14 points or 1.63 per cent to 5,254.29. The DSE-20 index including blue chips lost 1.28 per cent or 51.83 points to 3,997.50. The losers took strong lead over the gainers as out of total 256 issues traded, only 75 advanced, 179 declined and two remained unchanged.
