Announcing the budget in presence of the CCC ward councilors, officials and journalists at KB Abdus Sattar Auditorium, the CCC mayor said no new tax is imposed in the budget. The CCC's proposed budget for FY 2023-24 is based on own income, while the previous budget was donation-based.
Mr Chowdhury also said, "Bangladesh is moving towards becoming 'Smart Bangladesh' by 2041. The foundation of this vision is smart citizen, smart society, smart economy, and smart government. Most of the CCC activities are now being done online. Gradually, all its administrative functions will be brought under the digital system."
"The CCC is now maintaining a number of educational institutions, including one university, one midwifery Institute, eight colleges, four computer colleges, one homeopathic medical college, 43 high schools, six kindergarten schools, two primary schools, four night schools, six Sanskrit schools, and 410 Forkania madrasas."
He added that the CCC has undertaken several development projects, including Modern City Building construction at a cost of Tk 60 million, kitchen market construction at Bibir Hat, procurement of modern vehicles for development of garbage management, construction of bridges and roads, etc.
More than 50 per cent of the projects declared in the previous budget were not implemented by the CCC last year. The mayor in this regard said, "We could not implement many projects in last fiscal due to lack of fund. It is a fact that it needs time to send project proposals, and to get approval and allocation of funds."
