CHITTAGONG, May 26: Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin urged the CCC officials to achieve the revenue earning target of the current fiscal by June, the last month of the current fiscal year.
He expressed his total disappointment over the grim picture of revenue collection and warned the officials that the CCC would not be able to pay wages and salaries of the employees, workers and officials of the CCC, unless the outstanding revenue collection is not geared up.
Terming revenue department as the lifeline of the CCC, he said that the officials of the department had not concentrated on realising the revenue in the whole year, for which the CCC would have to suffer.
The mayor was speaking at a meeting with the officials of the revenue and estate department of the CCC as part of his successive meetings with all departments on Monday.
The officials told the mayor that a big amount of holding tax and other charges was lying unpaid in the current fiscal.
The biggest amount of revenue unpaid was lying with the Railway east zone. "I will talk to the Railway Minister in this regard so that they pay the outstanding amount," he said.
