CCCI AGM held: 7-point programme announced

CHITTAGONG, Dec 10: The annual general meeting (AGM) of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) for the 2006-2007 fiscal was held at the Chamber House today.
While presiding over the AGM CCCI President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury announced a 7-point programme including the celebration of the golden jubilee of CCCI next year and sending human resources of Chittagong to Korea, Canada and Australia.
Besides, he also mentioned the initiatives of the CCCI, the apex trade body of Chittagong, to bring about a positive change in the overall socio-economic atmosphere of the country since the installation of the caretaker government.
CCCI Cheif said, such a move has ensured uninterrupted supply of the food crops as well as essential consumer goods, normalisation at the import process and thus help launch a stable market system.
In this connecction, Saifuzzaman said that all these activities have been acclaimed by the government and concerned quarters and Chittagong has been praised as a model in the region.
He said ,14 market based monitoring cell were being operated by the CCCI in Chittagong.
CCCI President told the audience that it was due to the bold role and recommendations of the CCCI and a radical dynamism had been brought about at Chittagong Port through different reforms programme and goods and container handling expenditure had been reduced upto 30 per cent. At the same time, effeciency of the port had also increased by around 40 percent.
CCCI President also announced that the 16th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) would be isaugurated in the first week of February next year.
