CCCI calls for mitigating gas crisis in port city

CHITTAGONG, Sept 26: Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI), in a fax message sent to Energy Adviser Tapan Chowdhury, called for mitigating the persisting gas crisis in the port city and extending new gas connection to the industrial concerns here, sources said.
CCCI President Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said on being encouraged with the motivating programmes of the government in establishing gas-based industries, a good number of industrial concerns have been built in the region. Most of the units are subscribers to Bakhrabad Gas Systems Ltd (BGSL).
Many potential industrial entrepreneurs have in the meantime, applied to the BGSL authority for extending gas connection to their industrial units after processing relevant formalities, he further said.
In this context, the CCCI president requested to the energy adviser to take immediate steps to resolve the prevalent gas crisis and ensure adequate gas supply to the industrial organisations.
