CHITTAGONG, Feb 13: President of the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam has urged the Road Transports and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader to elevate Chittagong-Rangamati and Chittagong-Khagrachari road communication into four-lane highways.
In a letter addressed to the minister, the CCCI president today said that the three hill districts of Rangamati, Khagrachari and Bandarban are rich in diverse nature.
Thousands of people arrive everyday to enjoy the serene mountains, fountains, hills, lakes and waterfalls. A good number of foreign tourists are also seen enjoying the beauty of nature.
But unfortunately, the region is yet to be developed into an attractive tourist resorts despite having potentials due to lack of developed roads and communication network.
The highways communicating Chittagong with these hilly regions are narrow and in tatters, leaving tourists in trouble.
The hilly region is also highly rich in fruits of different varieties and agro-products having huge local market consumption across the country and export potential.
