CCCI 'committed to creating investment-friendly environ' in country

CHITTAGONG, Dec 26: Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) is committed to creating a trade and investment-friendly atmosphere in the country. With this end in view, the apex trade body of the region has decided to formulate a new guideline needed for the 21st century.
Such a note of optimism was expressed by newly elected president of CCCI M A Latif while delivering his address at its annual general meeting (AGM) at the Chamber Auditorium Thursday.
M A Latif termed Chittagong Chamber as the initiator of development programme on private-public partnership concept. He said, if implemented effectively in every sector it would be possible to bring the desired dynamism in the overall economy of the country.
The CCCI chief told the audience that the efforts of the board of directors of CCCI for building a business-friendly modern Bangladesh would continue.
MA Latif announced a 10-point action plan for Chittagong and said, the construction of World Trade Centre (WTC) would be completed in future and a specialised industrial park would be established in Chittagong. Special initiatives would be undertaken for developing tourism industry and for launching power generation projects under joint venture, he said.
