Chittagong Office
Chittagong, Dec 29: The annual general meeting (AGM) of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry was held in the CCCI auditorium recently.
Most members of the trade body participated in the AGM chaired by its president MA Latif MP.
Latif said, the automation system introduced in the Chittagong Custom House is a milestone in the promotion of import and export of the country. The automation system has facilitated the stakeholders to accomplish online export and import within the shortest possible time, which has multiplied the productivity in the port.
But due to silent patronization of some corrupt officials in Chittagong Port Authority and the so-called labour leaders the port activities are heading towards instability. The workers are being deprived of the dues, he said.
The CCCI members decided to start space allocation in the World Trade Centre within next 15 days. The CCCI president informed the members that the trade body would build up a specialized industrial zone on the both banks of the river Sankha in the southern Chittagong at the Chamber's own financing.
