CHITTAGONG, July 06: It is a difficult task to prepare a budget of a rising economy like Bangladesh by coordinating the hopes and aspirations of all.

Such an observation was made by National Board of Revenue (NBR) Chairman and Secretary of Internal Resources Division Mohammad Abdul Mazid in a post budget opinion sharing meeting with the members of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) Thursday.

NBR Chairman said there is no lacking on the part of the government in coordinating duties, income tax and VAT related guidelines and structures. But it becomes difficult to equally make it effective for all due to the differences lying among demands and working procedures concerning the respective interests of the different sectors.

CCCI president Saifuzzaman Chowdhury presided over the meeting.

Chamber directors Amirul Hoque, Nasiruddin Chowdhury, CCCI former president Ali Ahmad, C & F Agents' Association President Akhtar Hossain was spoke, among others, at the meeting.

CCCI Vice President Mahbub Alam gave the vote of thanks on the occasion.

With a view to developing local industry and creating more employment opportunities, CCCI president called for withdrawal of all taxes imposed on primary raw materials of industry and reduction of the import duties.

NBR chairman expressed his thanks to the CCCI and all others concerned for maximum realisation of revenue worth Tk 170 billion from Chittagong. Requesting for similar co-operation in implementing the budget for the current fiscal he said, "we should work together to build a self-reliant economy so that we do not have to look for foreign loan at higher interest rates".
