CCCI relocates ITP centre in Japan

CHITTAGONG, June 3: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has relocated its Investment and Trade Promotion (ITP) Centre in Japan.
It has been done to attract investments from Japanese entrepreneurs and non-resident Bangladeshi (NRB) investors by providing them with better services and necessary information.
Among others, former CCCI president MA Latif, MP, President Mahbubul Alam and Senior Vice President (SVP) Nurun Newaz Selim were present at the relocation ceremony.
The relocation ceremony was held at Waseda Misato in Saitama during their visit to Japan as part of the entourage of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
The office was set up in 2010 by the CCCI with a view to exchanging views and sharing experiences and technical know-how with the businesses of both the countries in expansion of trade, business and investment.
After establishing the office, a good number of Japanese investors visited Chittagong and expressed their interest in doing business.
As the outcome, City Network Inc. (CCK), a Japanese data entry company, has established its office on the Jubilee Road in Chittagong and is doing business there
Addressing the inaugural function, Mr MA Latif, MP termed the step a meaningful addition to development of economic relations between the two countries.
He expressed hope that the office in Japan would play a vital role in cementing trade ties between the two countries by upholding the positive image of Bangladesh abroad.
It will also help Japanese entrepreneurs invest in Bangladesh by disseminating information on facilities and incentives offered by the government for attracting FDI (foreign direct investment).
In his address, CCCI President Mahbubul Alam said the initiative of the CCCI would enhance the business ties between private sectors of both the countries and requested Japanese businesses to collect information from the office for spreading business activities in Bangladesh.
SVP Nurun Newaz Selim commented that the office in Saitama would act as a business platform for both the sides in extending their operation.
