CCCI tips for nat'l budget

CHITTAGONG, Apr 21: Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) has sent a package of recommendations to the Ministry of Finance to include them in the upcoming national budget for the 2009-2010 fiscal.
Their demands include establishment of a full-fledged Bond Commissionerate and an Appellate Tribunal in Chittagong for business purpose and re-introduction of air shipment from Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport.
While talking to the FE, CCCI President MA Latif, MP, said that with the implementation of the proposals, a healthy and hassle-free atmosphere would be ensured in the business arena of Chittagong, which would in turn be helpful to invigorate overall trade and commerce of the country.
Other recommendations set by the CCCI include providing cash incentives to the third party exporters, special package to the exporters in the perspective of global recession, either compliance of PSI in taxation or its complete cancellation, re-fixing the customs duty rate of Coil Coating Polyester Paint at 12 per cent, in case of importing rolled iron or steel sheet under HS Code 72.10, fixation of rate of duty at the highest level including 20 per cent supplementary duty, cancellation of duty free import facility of the main raw-material for carton industry, fixing equal rate of duty at 3 per cent for all machinery in agricultural works under HS Code 8437, fixing equal rate of duty for lubricating oil, exemption of travel tax for the wage earners, supplying diesel at import rate for resolving power problem and fixing the ceiling of tax free income of the individual category of tax payer at Tk 2,50,000.
