CCCI to observe its centenary, inauguration of WTC next year

CHITTAGONG, Dec 26: The Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will observe its birth centenary and inauguration of the World Trade Centre (WTC) in 2010.
About 40 per cent of the construction work of WTC financed by the CCCI at Agrabad area in the port city has been completed.
The first phase work of the WTC, the first of its kind in the country, is expected to be completed by the end of 2010.
This was stated at a views-exchange meeting of the executives, directors, and former presidents of the trade body organised on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the CCCI and inauguration of the WTC in 2010.
The meeting was held at the CCCI Conference Hall with its president MA Latif, MP in the chair.
Former CCCI presidents Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Babu, MP, Engr Ali Ahmed, SM Abul Kalam and Farid Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury, among others, spoke on the occasion .
Terming Chittagong the nucleus of the country's economy, Mr Latif said the overall development of the country depended on the progress of the port city.
The CCCI was established in 1906 and since its inception the Chamber has been playing an important role in boosting the country's economy.
