CCCI trade fair ends

CHITTAGONG, Mar 29: The month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) organised by Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) concluded in the city Saturday last.
State Minister for Environment and Forest Dr Hasan Mahmud, as chief guest, addressed the closing ceremony of the fair at the Railway Polo Ground.
The CITF-2010 had started on February 19.
Presided over by CCCI president MA Latif MP, chamber leaders including MA Salam, SM Shafiul Huq and SM Abu Tayab also spoke at the function.
They said that the CCCI was representing the small, medium and large scale industrialists and entrepreneurs for one hundred years who had been contributing a lot to the country's export and import, investment, industrialisation, employment creation and revenue earning.
The chamber leaders said the CITF-2011 would have IT zone, agriculture zone and a pavilion for the book lovers. About five million visitors including children and women visited the fair and over 400 entrepreneurs participated in it.
Putting emphasis on the necessity of a permanent venue of international trade fair in the port city, the state minister said discussions were on with China and other development partners in this regard.
