CHITTAGONG, Aug 3: The much-talked-about automation system at Chittagong Customs House (CCH) is going to be formally launched by the middle of this month.

In this connection, an agreement was signed between the CCH and the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI).

Under the deal, the CCCI would run the new system for five year from the launching date and after expiry of the date the CCH would take necessary preparation for its operation.

All necessary office orders relating to taxation of the export-import bills and clearance have already been issued, according to the CCH sources.

The sources expressed the hope that with the implementation of the system wastages of time and money would be stopped to facilitate export and import business.
