CHITTAGONG, Aug 25: Chittagong Customs House (CCH) earned revenue worth Taka 20.17 billion up to August 20 during the current fiscal which was 43 per cent more than that of the corresponding period of the preceding year.
According to the available statistics, it appears that out of the past three fiscals, CCH could not succeed in realising revenue upto the fixed targets during two fiscal years, although it could surpass the target in last fiscal (2007-08).
CCH sources said, coordination in fixing rate of duty, enhancing administrative efficiency and cooperation of the joint forces are attributed to be the grounds of achieving such a record and success in collecting revenue during the stated period.
Sources further said, the very target of realisation of revenue up to Taka 154.74 billion set by the government for the current fiscal is quite an unusual one as it is much higher than that of the preceding years.
