CDA to implement four new housing projects in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, Apr 11: After long years, Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) is going to make four new housing projects in the port city during the present BNP regime.
These are: 'Nisarga Residential Area' and Baizid Housing Project in Baizid area, Bay Pearl at Patenga and Fatehabad New Town at Fatehabad.
Sources said the "Bay Pearl" project has been taken up to solve the housing problem of the middle class. Under the project, plots of various sizes will be constructed on 19.55 acres of land in Patenga area and allotted to the people. The feasibility study of the project has already been completed. The DPP has been prepared. It has been sent to the ministry for approval. Sources said the ministry was conducting some experiments to see whether the project would be profitable or not.
Sources said the CDA took up a separate project titled 'Development of Fatehabad New Town'. Through this project, an initiative has been taken to establish a self-sustainable new city with modern facilities and amenities with the aim of preserving the hills on the non-agricultural high land located at the feet of the hills and building a reservoir at the feet of the hills while keeping the natural and environmental features intact, reducing the pressure on the main city, and developing an ecological and sustainable environment. It is stated that it will ensure housing for at least 500,000 people. The feasibility study of the project has already begun.
CDA is going to prepare a new housing project with 167 residential and 18 commercial plots at Lope Road in Baizid Bostami area in the port city to solve the crisis of residence of the city dwellers. CDA has taken the initiative to develop a separate residential area called 'Nisarga Residential Area' adjacent to Bayezid Link Road. A feasibility study is being conducted to develop the area on 113.89 acres of land adjacent to Bayezid Link Road. The project proposal has already been prepared and sent to the ministry for approval.
Sources in CDA said that the Baizid Housing Project would be set up on 19.65 acres of land and the works of  selection and development of land have already been completed. CDA already sent the DPP in this regard to the ministry for approval. According to the DPP, the Baizid Housing Project is likely to cost Tk 357 crore and 82 lac. There will be manmade lake, playground, green belts, etc in the new Baizid Housing Project.
The CDA already has a total of 12 housing projects including those at Silimpur, Agrabad, Nasirbad, Kolpolok, Anonya, which are not adequate for 60 lac city dwellers of Chattogram. A total of 6,660 plots have already been allocated in the said 12 housing projects of CDA. Besides, CDA built market cum apartments at Kajirdewri which were allocated to the dwellers. A total of 64 apartments have already been allocated there.
