CEC seeks judges on duty on Dec vacation

FE REPORT | Thursday, 2 November 2023

The chief election commissioner has requested the chief justice (CJ) to ensure that lower-court judges perform their duties even during the annual vacation this December to handle election matters.
CEC Kazi Habibul Awal's request to CJ Obaidul Hassan was made to this end on Wednesday.
He said this to the mass media after a courtesy meeting with the CJ at the Supreme Court in the afternoon.
The judges perform the duties of the Electoral Enquiry Committee during parliamentary elections. As election time approaches in December, civil court judges should not go on a vacation this year.
"Therefore, I've informed the CJ that the judges shouldn't refrain from their duties during vacation this year. And they will perform their duties as usual in January," added Mr Awal.
