CENNOVATION 2016

CENNOVATION, the biggest  civil engineering fest of Bangladesh, was held on 29th July, Friday at Islamic University of Technology (IUT) campus. CENNOVATION 2016 was held for the 4th consecutive time as it has become a legacy of IUT Civil and Environmental Engineering Department. The journey began in 2013 when IUT CEE '09 batch had the courage and strong will and showed great character in taking such a brave initiative. The purpose of CENNOVATION is to bring the engineering minds from different institutions and countries together at the same platform. Also this event aims to enrich technical and scientific skills, knowledge and efficiency of future engineers of our country.

The inauguration ceremony started at 9 am. The chief guest of the inauguration ceremony was Prof. Dr. M. Shamim Z Bosunia and Chief Patron was the Vice Chancellor of IUT Prof. Dr. Munaz Ahmed Noor. There were almost 500 participants from 33 different universities from and outside the city of Dhaka. Besides, there were two international participants from China and Hamburg, Germany. The events were Drafting Contest, Case study analysis, Mechanics Olympiad, Green Film Festival, CENNOVATION Through Your Eyes Photography Contest and Poster Presentation. The organisers were brave enough to introduce the first ever Popsicle Truss Challenge competition in Bangladesh.

This addition was warmly welcomed by the participants. 32 teams pre-registered for the contest and 21 teams had the opportunity to participate on the final day. All the events were finished within 5.30 pm and the  prize distribution ceremony began at 6 pm. This part of the programme was presided by Asadul Haque Sufyani, the Chief Marketing Officer, Seven Circle (Bangladesh) Ltd. The programme was officially closed by the departure of bus at 6.30 pm.
