Chairman Babu arrested

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the controversial Sadurpara union chairman Mahmudul Alam Babu on Saturday for his alleged complicity in the killing of journalist Golam Rabbani Nadeem.
RAB director (media wing) Cdr Khandakar Al Moin disclosed this to the media during a press briefing at Karwanbazar in the capital in the evening.
Earlier, Monira Begum, wife of the victim, filed a murder case with Bakshiganj police station citing names of 22 persons, including chairman Babu.
Another 25 unnamed persons of Bakshiganj upazila under Jamalpur district have also been sued.
The RAB official said a team of RAB arrested Babu from Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district on Saturday.
Journalist Nadeem came under attack by followers of Babu, also general secretary of Sadurpara union Awami League, on Wednesday night. He sustained serious injuries on the spot.
The victim succumbed to his injuries at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital around 2:25 pm on Thursday.
He was laid to rest at Gumerchar family graveyard under Nilakhia union in Bakshiganj after namaj-e-janaza on Friday.
