Chairman candidate boycotts Muladi UZ polls

A BNP-backed chairman candidate at Muladi Upazila in Barisal district has pulled out of the local government polls. Chairman aspirant Abdus Sattar Khan alleged ruling party supporters had taken over polling centres in the Upazila (UZ) during the third phase of the UZ elections on Saturday morning. He further alleged that the supporters of his rival in the polls race beaten up his agents and resorted to rigging during the vote. His announcement came from a press conference, two hours after the polling started at 8am. Sattar is also the president of the BNP’s Muladi unit, according to bdnews24.com.
