Chandni Chawk Market fire doused

The fire which broke out at Chandni Chawk Market in the city on Monday night was doused early Tuesday. Seven fire-fighting units from Palashi, Lalmatia and Fire Brigade headquarters in Phulbaria tamed the blazé with the help of police and local people around 12:39am after about two hours’ frantic efforts. The reason behind the fire which originated around 10:50pm could not be known immediately, fire brigade officials and police said. They also could not confirm the extent of losses caused by the fire to the market, situated near Gowsia Market and Dhaka News Market, according to UNB.
