Chandpur market fire guts 24 shops, injures 10

At least 24 shops were gutted by a fire that broke out at a market at Faridganj Upazila in Chandpur district on Wednesday. Ten people were injured in the fire. Fire service officials said the fire originated from an electric shot circuit at a cloth shop at Kalir Bazar around 2.30am and the fire spread rapidly around engulfing 23 other adjacent shops. On information, a firefighting unit from Chandpur town rushed in and tamed the blaze after 1 hour of frantic efforts. The burnt structures included groceries, libraries, restaurants, jewelries, confectionaries, tailoring shops, salons and garment and cloth stores. At least 10 people received burn injuries in the blaze, according to UNB.
