Dhaka, July 2 (UNB) – Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid on Wednesday said changes in the public examination system, including holding examinations without gap except public holidays, will be brought, leaving no room for question paper leak.

“The changes will be brought based on the recommendations made by recently formed investigation committee and opinions of experts and educationists to be elicited through workshops and seminars,” he told a media briefing at his ministry.

As part of the changes, the Education Minister said, the examinations will be held without any gap except the public holidays to minimise the scope for question paper leak.

Asked whether the seven-member probe body, formed on April 10 following the leak of the question paper of the HSC English second paper, has been able to detect the source of leak, the minister replied in the negative.

Nahid, however, said one person has been arrested in this connection and efforts will be made to reach the source of the problem based on his confessional statements.

The seven-member committee, headed by Education Ministry additional secretary (admin and finance) Sohrab Hosain, for putting forward recommendations on how question papers of different public examinations can be protected to check their leak and what action should be taken against the people involved in HSC question paper leak.

Though the committee could not reach the source of the problem, it submitted its recommendations on June 29.
