Charge framed against MP Bodi

Tuesday, 8 September 2015

A Dhaka court on Tuesday framed the charge against Awami League MP Abdur Rahman Bodi in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for accumulating wealth beyond known sources. Judge of Dhaka Special Court-3 Abu Ahmed Jamadar framed the charges as the accused failed to submit the wealth statement to the court within the stipulated time. The court also fixed October 6 for hearing the witnesses of the case. Meanwhile, Bodi’s lawyer Mahfuzur Rahman Likhon submitted a discharge petition to the court on Tuesday which the court rejected after the hearing and framed the charges against the accused. As the charge was read aloud before the accused in the dock, he claimed himself to be innocent and demanded justice. Earlier on August 21 last year, the ACC filed the case with Ramna Police Station accusing MP Bodi (Cox's Bazar-4) of amassing wealth illegally, according to a news agency.
