Charge framing against BDR medics ends

A special BDR court has finished reading the charges against all 256 personnel of the border force's hospital unit, of the Pilkhana Headquarters, reports bdnews24.com.
The charge framing started Monday with all the accused present at court. Acting prosecutor Lt Col Mohammad Abdul Alim, who is filling in for Lt Col SMA Al Muyid, presented a pictorial report on the accused to the court on the first day, followed by the reading out of the charges to 99 of the accused. On Tuesday, the charges were read out to a further 131 accused.
The charges against the remaining 26 accused were read out at the court, set up at the Darbar Hall, Wednesday. The hearing started around 10.30am.
The court resumed at 11.15am after a 20-minute break and the accused were asked to speak their position on the accusations. All pleaded 'not-guilty.'
Col Khandaker Obayedul Ahsan headed the judges' panel, with Lt Col Nurul Alam and Maj SM Kawsar assisting.
The court adjourned at 1pm after setting the next hearing for 10am on Feb 27, 2011. The accused will interrogate witnesses on the day.
There are a total of 182 witnesses in the case.
