A Dhaka court again deferred Thursday hearing on charge framing against BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 40 others until March 12, 2015 in a case filed in connection with the March 2 violence in the capital last year, reports UNB.
Dhaka additional chief metropolitan magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh fixed the fresh date following time petitions filed by the lawyers for the BNP leaders.
Thirty-nine BNP men, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and its standing committee members Goyeshwar Chandra Roy and Barkatullah Bulu, appeared before the court Thursday while Mirza Abbas and Barrister Moudud Ahmed were absent.
Ramna thana police filed the case against the 41 BNP men and 1,200 unnamed people accusing them of obstructing the law enforcers from discharging their duties, attempting to kill them and exploding crude bombs in front of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College on Bailey Road of the capital on March 2, 2013 during the BNP-led opposition's blockade programme.
Police submitted a charge sheet in the case against the BNP men on July 5, last year.
