A Dhaka Court deferred hearing to frame charges against BNP leaders, including acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, until August 10 in three separate cases, reports bdnews24.com.
Metropolitan Magistrate Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan issued the order Sunday following a petition filed by defence lawyer seeking further time.
At least 24 BNP leaders and activists, including Mirza Fakhrul, standing committee members Barrister Moudud Ahmed, Mirza Abbas, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy and joint secretaries Amanullah Aman and Barkatullah Bulu, appeared before the court during the hearing.
On March 27 last year, DB police submitted charge sheets in the cases.
Anisul Islam, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) and investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge sheet against 26 people, including Mirza Fakhrul, Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Vice-chairman Abdullah Al Noman, Amanullah Aman and Alal.
